Spring has sprung and so have five new Peterson Garden Project pop-up gardens. We’ve moved on from our original location at Peterson and Campbell and have joined the Vedgewater pop-up at Rosemont and Broadway. The weekend was filled with plant sales, orientations, and Grewbie gardening classes (for newbie gardeners).
I have to say that I’m thrilled to be back in the garden but I’m even more excited about this new location. It’s definitely a great addition to the Edgewater community. The concept of community gardening, for me, extends so far beyond being able to grow your own food – it alters the landscape (literally!) of the community and turns something otherwise ugly and overlooked into something beautiful and full of life.

Built raised beds and filled them with amazing quality soil.

Each person/group has their own bed in which they can cultivate whatever they want so long as it’s edible and grown organically.

Everyone fills their own bed with the wonder-soil. We decided to be a bit more organized than previous years and have marked off the 32 square feet we’ll be working with.

Nothing but seed for us this year. Everything comes from Renee’s Garden.

A little strategizing and we’re on our way to another successful and vegetable-filled growing season.
I am so proud of you two! And know you’ll be a great influence at Vedgewater!!!
