This holiday season has felt a little off to me so far. I’m not sure why but I wasn’t ready for Thanksgiving and I’m still not feeling totally ready for December much less Christmas. I think it’s the weather but things are cooling down now and lights are going up and everything is starting to smell like pine so I’m hoping this weekend will do the trick and zap me into ho-ho-holiday mode. My favorite thing about the holidays are the winter treats: cookies and candies, special alcoholic drinks, warm coffees and, my all-time favorite – hot chocolate. If we had a fireplace, I’d sit by it every night with a cup of cocoa. Instead, we have a fireplace scented candle and I sit next to that with my mug of swiss miss. This weekend, I plan on seeking out all of the holiday goodies I can find and consuming everything. If I’m suffering from a self-induced diabetic coma by the end of this weekend, well… it’s a small price to pay for getting into the spirit the only way I know how: food and drink.
Oh, I love the sound of a fireplace candle. Is it Yankee?
Actually it’s a C.O. Bigelow. We went to this bar and the had one by the bathroom and Greg loved it so we hunted it down.
